Audiotree shares Converge session

Recorded live on May 11, 2025 in Chicago, IL, Converge recorded several songs from various albums for an Audiotree session.

Audiotree: For more than three decades, Converge have delivered metal standards that boil over with musical and emotional catharsis, putting purpose before perception and intent before interpretation. Whether it’s their 2001 landmark recording ‘Jane Doe’ or their 2021 ‘Bloodmoon: I’ collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe, Converge have created some of the most compelling music, lyrics, and visual art of the 21st century. Heavy music couldn’t be what it is today without these architects at the helm. Over the past 35 years, Jacob Bannon (vocalist, lyricist), guitarist/producer Kurt Ballou (guitarist, producer), Nate Newton (bassist/vocalist), and Ben Koller (drums) have created a sonic ecosystem that makes a strident artistic statement on the turmoil of living, honing their collective strengths to a razor’s edge. They’ve constantly refined their molten core, a jagged mix of hardcore power and death metal kinetics, while remaining steadfast in spreading and evolving their sound. Over the course of their discography (soon to be eleven albums strong), they’ve added ghoulish dirges, scabrous noise-rock, and bona fide pop hooks. Converge’s From Noting finds the band at the apotheosis of their decades-long journey through the punk, hardcore, and metal microcosm. Kicking things off with “We Were Never The Same,” a track from their upcoming eleventh album, ‘Love is Not Enough,’ Converge’s From Nothing embodies a sonorous balance of vitality and viciousness that reflects the chaos and uncertainty of the times we live in. As they play through tracks off ‘You Fail Me’ (2004), ‘Axe To Fall’ (2009), and ‘The Dusk In Us’ (2017), there’s a sense of grandiosity, devastating emotional weight, and wrenching mood swings that only a stanchion on extreme music like Converge could pull off.
